I’ve begun to collect books, maps and various items of tackle retailed by Henry Murton’s shops on Grainger Street in Newcastle and also in Sunderland (image attached).
Can anyone tell me which reelmaker(s) actually manufactured for them please? Any information at all about Murton is most welcome, including his tackle catalogues and guides.
Many thanks,
Kind Regards
Phil.

Re: Henry A. Murton
You’ve probably looked, but there is close to nothing on the interweb.
I found that his 1894 catalogue
Murton's Anglers' guide and list of fishing requisites
is held (possibly electronically) by a few US university libraries.
So if you are a student at Harvard ...

Re: Henry A. Murton
I recall seeing a Malloch sidecaster with the retailers stamp. I suspect Slater and Heaton also supplied them.
