Jecta Popular query

Post by Cane »

I bought this reel at a boot fair. Corroded and jammed solid. It still won't win any beauty contests, but after some tlc, it at least runs well.
I haven't been able to locate another on the forum, or on the bay. Any suggestions welcome. I think it's probably by Grice & Young?
Thanks

Hi mate,

One of Grice and Youngs earliest reels. I think probably late 40s. Don't see too many of them.

Looks in pretty goo nick, apart from the bit of paint loss.

Have a look half way down this article and you'll see an early advertisement including this reel.

Thanks Matt. Really helpful.I'm looking forward to giving it a spin in the next couple of weeks. Please feel free to use the photos for your site if these are helpful.
What an excellent job you have done on your website, re Grice and Young reels. I also have the "Crown." A left-handed version. It is terrific for trotting and for general use.
