I look forward to seeing them back ready for actionThyratron wrote: ↑Tue Feb 19, 2019 9:30 am Bob The Float,
Thanks so much for the diagram. It has save me from destroying a reel, as the piece I thought to remove doesn't need it after all. Part no.4 main shaft. I'll put photo's up when they are fixed. I must see if I can find some paint to help prevent further corrosion after I have removed the blisters.
Thank you again,
Paul.

And so you will, now that I know how they go together.
I am, at the moment, stripping the incomplete one to assess the complexity of the job.
Tomorrow, before going further, I'll take a photo of the two complete ones in all their decrepidnous (is that a word?)
before dismantling them. There is a lot of corrosion to get rid of before etch priming and painting the topcoat.
I'm not trying to make pristine models just users with a little protection from the salt. With that in mind I'm not sure I want to shell out the moneyneeded for some matching maroon paint, the cost of the etching primer was more than the reels were. But, however, if you think it would be too heretical to paint them black, I will grit my snaggled teeth and get on down to Halfords.
Photo tomorrow , they're not pretty.
Kind regards,
Paul.

Then brown it shall be.
You wouldn't know what a matching paint colour was would you?
regards,
Paul.

Re: DIAWA I'm not sure how this happened
BTF,
I'll take the reel cover plate with me.
Here's a photo of the two reels I intend to work on. The other one has been cannibalised.
The right one is the more badly corroded of the two, the left on I could use after a good clean and lubrication.
Strangely enough there is no evidence of sand or grit in the gear cases despite there being no waterproof gasket fitted.
kind regards,
Paul.

Re: DIAWA I'm not sure how this happened
They all look in very good condition, I intend to try out my 7290d tomorrow for some spinning for perch /pike on a local canal. the bail arm on my reel seems to lock open in two positions, open and then slightly forward. Both positions allow the line to be would in onto the spool. Is this normal? Or is it all going to go horribly wrong on my first cast tomorrow??BobTheFloat wrote: ↑Tue Feb 12, 2019 7:22 pmSorry for the delay
Here are the 7300, 7300b, 7300h, 7300ha
I have a couple of 7300 A versions but there burried at the moment but I'm sure there almost identical to the B versions.
I go fishing not to find myself but to lose myself.
