K P Morritts 'Intrepid Continental' help please?
Does anyone know anything about these reels, this one belongs to a friend of mine. I adore the colour and look of it.
Many thanks.

Who, Old Nell ??? Me ???
I have a couple of Continentals which, as the photo shows, came originally with interchangeable arbours to change the capacity of the spool. Without the arbour the spool holds 200yds of 12lb. line (or, at least, the 12lb line of the late 1950's !).
I think they are amongst the best of the K. P. Morritt's output.
They have precision cut helical gearing which make it a remarkably smooth reel for the time.
This advert in Fishing Gazette in September 1959 dates the introduction of the reel nicely (though I believe the patent on the gearing was granted in 1958) :-

Thanks AC, my friend (Colin) was given this reel by someone that means a great deal to him and will be delighted to get that extra detail.

Never used one but they look nice. I'd quite like an Elite.

I was wondering what it was when I saw a picture of it in Fred J Taylor's 'Favourite Swims', I'll scan the image later.

Here you go.....
Whilst on the subject of reels, can anybody identify this one for me? It features in Fred's pictures but I cannot place it.

Intrepid --- Supreme --- again one on th'ebay.
I used both of these reels in my youth --- before I could afford my 1st Mitchell 300.
