Don't worry about stripping it down and replacing it...I'm more than happy to do it, and if it doesn't fit, I'll send it back to you.
As a reciprocal gesture, I was wondering if you'd like to borrow for the forthcoming season one of my Sup Matic 707's? French made until around 1968 (most seem to have been sent to the US to be sold under the South Bend brand, although picked an early one up in France), bearings, worm gearing, bronze other gearing, two speed retrieve...same size ish as a 330...the perfect carp reel, andI my opinion, the Rolls Royce of reels (if one can find one!). However, spares are rarer than hen's teeth. You would be most welcome.
