Altex bail arm change?

Post by Cat »

Morning All,
I'm just wondering if anyone has had experience changing an Altex bail arm? The technical focus being the removal of the retaining screws.
Thanks Cat

Hi Cat, yes I have take a few off over the years. The screws are pretty tough so you can use quite a bit of pressure on them as long as you have good fitting screwdrivers and nice clean slots.
Cutting gaps in old screwdrivers is best done with a good file so no heat is created otherwise the tip will be softened and will then need tempering again. Hard to get dead right on a small area.

Thanks Wal,
Was there a specific screwdriver produced by Hardy originally?

I dont think so Cat though they may have provided tool kits to service centres.
