Help please

Post by Dollar58 »

Thought I would have a try a refurbishing a wooden centrepin, managed to purchase one reasonable price but the spool is stuck in place and I just cannot remove it , I have removed the nut on the central pin but it appears to be stuck . It does rotate but very stiff
Any tips ?

A good dose of "plus gas" or some other release oil on the spindle, then leave it overnight and try again.
Careful if you try prising it off as you can easily break the wood edges.

Very good advice from Wal. The fact that the reel does turn is a good sign , the release oil has a chance to creep.Keep away from mineral oils they stain and destroy wood.I would try very hard to apply a small spot of release oil over a long as you can, be patient ." Ringing the reel" is better than pulling or using force. Good luck . Tony.
