12 ft Spanish Reed and cane

I popped in to the little 'Vintage' shop in Lichfield today. A bundle of rods in brown bags needed investigating. They were mostly fibreglass but one was a traditional 'Reed' spliced cane float rod . Reasonable quality build with the name Paul Nickless and the number 76 on the butt. Does this ring any bells with anyone?
