Albert Smith & Co., Redditch, "The Majestic"

Post by AshbyCut »

Ok ... call it "Lock Down Fever" ... but it's all part of my "Master Plan" !!! (more of which later ... I promise. Suffice to say a hint is in my Screen Name !)

How could I resist this ??? ... listed in the Albert Smith & Co. 1937 catalogue under "Very Superior Match Rods" ... a 13ft 6in, 4 piece "The Majestic" ... a canal roach rod if I have ever read a description of one !!!

That looks like a quality job, very nice indeed!

There’s something about the look of dark cane and bronze fittings that really appeals to me. Nice find

It certainly does have a quality look about it. 13.5ft and only 15 ounces, that's really good for a four piece cane rod with brass fittings.

Remarkable really that a long wisp of a rod like that can make it to 83 years old and be in such superb condition! Cherished for generations - what a great find AC :Sun:
