Help with logo

Post by OldAngler »

I have a logo on a rod, due for renovation next winter, which shows a man wearing 'plus four' trousers, a trilby hat, jacket, shirt and tie.
He has a small mustache. He is holding a rod where the line loops round behind his head. The name of the rod is 'Elasticane Lyca,' but no maker's name. Is this the Marco brand?

I enclose some photos but my camera is poor at close ups.

Any information welcome. Thank you in advance.

It is a Marco or The Modern Arms Company. They were based at Bromley and they used the trade name Elasticane. Nice rods.

Yes. Marco. Looks like the “Test”

He has mentioned Lyca. That was the name of a spinning rod they made. 7 or 8 foot I think.

The logo is higher up on a 'Test' and the writing is wrong. It's a Lyca for certain!

Lyca means purity apparently. A good name I think.

I must wear my glasses more often when I saw this thread I thought "who could possibly need help with Lego?"

Gentlemen,

Thank you for your help.
It appears I have a Modern Arms Company Elsticane Lyca seven foot two piece spinning rod, which I bought recently as part of a job lot. I shall be renovating it next autumn but as I do not do any spinning I shall be selling it. If anyone is interested please PM me.
