"The Pintail" avon type rod?

Post by Wagtail »

Gents

Has anyone ever heard of, or have information on, an 'Avon' style rod called "The Pintail"?

It is quite powerful, with a whole cane butt, split cane middle and tip and with the name written in ink script-style along the rod (as opposed to around the rod) just up from the handle. There is no other maker's mark at all, and this particular one looks to have had 'running repairs' done a few times during it's life with several non-original whippings and rings and a rather nasty curve to the tip section :Scared: I suspect the original thread colour was red, as all the other whippings look like sewing cotton! Before I spend much time bringing it back to straightness and refinishing it your thoughts, as always, would be much appreciated :Hat: :Hat: :Hat:
