Courier for rod tubes ?

Post by DWW »

Hi
I am about to sell a large proportion of my rod collection due to a lack of space ! However I am having trouble finding a suitable courier for the rods . Some will be 190 cm long in the usual tubes . But I cannot find a courier that will take them . Any advice much appreciated !
Cheers

I’m only aware of 2 delivery services that still take rod tubes that long - Parcel Force and UPS. I believe that the clearing website Parcels2go do but I wouldn’t go within a Sowebutts Pole distance of them!

They both shoved up their prices recently and I have heard that the legendary excellent service of UPS has declined. I now use Parcel Force exclusively as their reliability has increased in leaps and bounds over the last few years.

As an aside, I use a lot of delivery/courier services for my work, both as sender and recipient. In my opinion, at this moment, Parcel Force and UPS are the best when you balance out cost with reliability and safety of your item.

Your only other option would be the one I use at work for multiple packages, ones of an unusual shape or very delicate items - find a local courier business In your area. This is the most expensive option but I find the reliability of such local businesses to be second to none. long distance they May send to another local company who will then do the last few miles based on local knowledge.

Cheers,

Phil

You could try www.interparcel.com have sent rods with them before they do parcels 1.4 m long but probably do longer. With some of the companies you have to have a business account to send longer parcels if you want the to collect from you. That is where companies like interparcel can be used.

I would never use APC Overnight ever again, even if it was Free.

This is how they treated one of my rods i sent out to a buyer.
