A Wallington Rod

Post by Aitch »

By now you will have heard of our little band fishing the Wallington in search of the monster Gudgeon therein for the "Gudgeon Jim Memorial Trophy".... This year I took a small lightweight spinning rod that our own Dr Cane (WallysCast) rebuilt into a small river rod, nice though the action of this rod is, it is still a bit "Pokey" for such a small river.....

So it seems that a small fly rod, re-ringed and transformed into a coarse rod is the way to go.....

With this in mind Phil (Tengisgol) sourced a nice lightweight fly blank and it has found it's way into Wal's hands for a makeover... the blank didn't have a butt and was still sporting the string marks from it's laying up.... Wal has recommended that we go with a nice 8' rod with an 18" butt and..... well, I'll leave the description out till I get it back and post some pictures.... the problem I have is is Wal has asked if I wanted to name the rod....? he has made a few suggestions and I have a couple of my own..... so I throw the decision out to the members of the TFF....
Here are the names so far

The Wallington Wand.
The Wanderer.
The Wally Gonk Wizard.
The Stickleback Snatcher.
The Gonquoror.
The Wallington Whopper Stopper
The Gudgeonator

Please can you cast a vote for the name that you think would best suit the rod (Mark, Could you set this up as a poll please... many thanks)

When we have a result I'll get Wal to inscribe the rod with the winning moniker.

Just one more cast love, and I'll be on me way home

The Lilliput Lance?

No, I like Wally Wizard - no need for the 'Gonk' I reckon.

The Gonkmaster with some nice Jasper whippings
My vote would be Gonqueror :Hat:
