Possible Aspindale Rod?

Post by Churchill »

I posted in 'Other Traditional Cane Rods' a question about a rod I'm trying to identify.
It has been suggested it could be by Aspindales ... and I can see similarities.

I'd be grateful if anyone with knowledge of Aspindale's rods (all of you probably have more than me) could have a look and confirm, deny or comment

Thanks

With a few Aspindales it regrettably does not look like one of theirs - to me. I am sure that Aspindales would have put their name on the rod.
Every ferrule joint I have seen on an unmolested Aspindale has a number on the tip next to the ferrule and again on the butt. Other makers also did the same.

The fittings could be common at the time and used by many rod makers. In the current time rod ring makers are still numerous and many still do not put their name on every article.

On the other thread the reference given was to Aspinall, not Aspindale....not sure if that was a typo or not?

It looks like a pre-war heavy spinning rod.

Thanks gents.
It was Aspinall, not Aspindale - it seems these names do get confused sometimes.
