Rodrill float rod

Post by Coral Maestro »

Here is a Rodrill float rod which looks to have been built around the time of transition between cane and fibreglass. The majority of the rod is whole cane with a whole cane to whole cane splice in the middle section and a whole cane to fibreglass splice in the tip section. The cane is painted black.
The handle has red anodised aluminium fittings with a red rubber button. The rod is 12ft 2in long assembled and like a lot of Rodrill rods has no model name, just the Rodrill logo.
Does anyone have any idea which model this could be and a year of manufacture?

I can’t help you with a date but that is a lovely example of rod making in transition.
