It is probably the book I have read the most often. Wore a burgundy cover copy out, purchased a blue cover copy and sold a lot of black cover copies.

Written when he was in his absolute writing prime in my opinion.

Carp now and then had some amusing stories, loved the one when he took Roger Smith to Cassien for the first time.

I'm so relieved he hasn't been shunned on here. He was using cane when there was no alternative and lived the years many try to replicate.

He looks and sounds an old man on the recent interview but still has that glint in his eye for a 'monster'.

Guesting in the swimming pool has to be my favourite bit!

Its refreshing to read some of Rod's early work, the enthusiasm and effort to catch fish that the modern newcomer would probably sneer at.
