Can you please help to identify this Allocks reel

Post by Barbelseeker »

This 4" diameter 1" drum, has all the hallmarks of an Allcocks Popular, but bears no stampings on its backplate. Nor is the logo button present, if it ever had one. Admittedly, it has seen better days. The only distinguishing feature might be that the brass foot is held on by 3 screws.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Not sure how photographs will turn out - not very well !!! - New lot:

It looks like the 3 .75" Allcocks 815. I've got a battered one (though not quite as battered as yours) and I love it. I also have the 4.5" model which is mint. They are quite cheap but I rate them well. The only problem is the spools are too deep. This was 'corrected' on the 4.5 with a cork arbour but it's not an ideal solution as the cork shrinks.

Dave! No holes!
Model 8902 Aerial Popular
“Any one reel can have any combination of stampings” (or none at all)
2 handles is normal

Well spotted Deaf Cat, I wondered who'd be the first to notice my deliberate mistake
