Welcome aboard Justin
Not a fish was visible that first time I visited Beechmere; an utter
stillness brooded over the place and I felt the strange and sinister atmosphere which, so the story goes,
has been the cause of several suicides.’

You are also in the right place for Buffalo Carp, which grow pretty big too.

Welcome to TFF Justin! There is an excellent series of articles on Harry Boyds website. If you need any tips or help with your rodmaking journey just pm. I have many articles and books. As a starter you could look into „The lovely reed“ by Jack Howell or the excellent books of Wayne Cattanach or George Maurer. All about fly rods but the process is the same. Enjoy, Chris

Hi Justin, and welcome.
I'm aware of some excellent US reels...indeed I have a lovely Penn Spinfisher 710 'greenie' that I drag out on occasion for carp...but who were the US cane manufacturers (and I assume they produced spinning rods)?
Regards Cat

Welcome to the forum, Justin.
I'm in Michigan and enjoy trying to tempt carp, bass and perch from the Grand River. I've never been one for boat fishing---too much like hard work. There are plenty of quiet spots on the river bank where you can settle down to enjoy a nice afternoon and see what's biting. I like to fish with sweet corn to avoid the catfish---it's like unhooking a bicycle inner tube. Good to have a member from as far south as Dallas!
All the best,
G. B.

Greetings Justin, welcome to the forum! I have family in Arlington Texas and have visited both Fort Worth and Dallas. I once fished a lake in Arlington from a boat when a freight train went past. It was still going past ten minutes later! I am sure that you will enjoy the forum!
