Hello

Post by CGP »

Delighted to have found this forum and looking forward to swapping yarns and learning some new tricks perhaps.

As with so many things in life "timing is all". I have been a keen fisher since the age of 8 or so and walked many miles along the banks of the Torridge in north Devon, sporting an ancient and battered two piece split cane fly rod, as I say, timing is all because tomorrow, some 5 decades on from my 1st two piece I once again will be roaming the river bank with a second hand two piece.

Autumn 1989, I stumbled upon and purchased a second hand Constable 8'2 Wallop Brook (it is #275) for very little money, and ignorant of its pedigree, delighted in its appearance. It was immaculate and I suspected un-fished. I have thus far used it only once and curiosity made me look on the web this week for Constables of Bromley as I have been invited to fish an, apparently notable stretch of water holding brown trout and a good head of Graylng.

This brings me to the ' morrow.

I have never caught a Grayling and it appeals to me that I might catch my first "Lady" on this beautiful cane rod, though I know it is perhaps not the best time of year, we shall see, and anyway, "being there" is as much the point as catching. Yes, perhaps tomorrow!

Looking forward to being a member here and exploring the pages further.

Regards to all,

Christopher

Hi there Wallop Brook is a great rod and hopefully once the temperature drops you will be connecting with the Lady of the Stream.
