Hi all
I am 55 years old and have been fishing all my life. I was brought up on the weekly articles by Dick Walker in the 1970's which led me to an interest in Redmire and its history.
Having used fibre glass and carbon fibre rods throughout this time in recent years my interest in angling history and old tackle has grown. I was lucky on phone wars day and have a weekend booked for Redmire in August and decided this was the time to take the plunge and buy a B James MkIV. Since the end of lockdown I have coupled it with a Mitchel 300 (purchaed by mail order from Bennets of Sheffied late 1970's) and a modern centre pin
+ hand made peacock quill floats. I have used these combinations to catch carp, tench and bream.
Note: I used articles on this forum as a guide on what to look for when purchasing the MkIV.
After just a few trips with this rod I am now looking to extend my collection of cane in the near future. My next purchase will be a MkIV Avon as I think this will be more suited for my bream and tench fishing. Ongoing a rod for winter river roach fishing and a teardrop shaped landing net 15-20" width. Any advice on this will be welcome.

Welcome to the fold
No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man.

Welcome to the TFF, Steve!
It's always the same story. Where there's one cane rod, there'll soon be a cane forest.
Good luck and tight lines!
