Welcome, my first fish was also a humble bleak, caught from the Thames at Kingston- you couldn't fail with floatfished maggot, although I did start off with much too big a hook until a kind angler gave me a smaller one. Happy days!

Thanks Dave. Here's a photo of the Ruffe, you can't really tell in the photo but it was a very plump fish and 7 inches long.

Welcome! Your picture brings back memories of many smaller specimens from a number of different venues! :Hat:

Hello Lea, happily they seem to be doing pretty well near to me on the GUC and the average size seems to be increasing!

Lovely. I haven't had a ruffe for years. Not the most exciting of fish but seeing a big little fish is always a thrill. You must catch up on some of the gudgeon catches on here on the 'Jolly on the Wally' threads.

Well done David - a beautiful Ruffe indeed and massive too, in my limited experience of them......
Trouble is, the fish just don't read the books......

Cheers Troydog - it was actually my son Will (aged 11) who takes credit!

I still remember mine Tench Trotter - I was 4 and I struck so hard the poor little bleak flew over my head and landed to swim about in a puddle in the tow path behind me!
