Pembrokeshire placed

Post by Joe Croesor »

Wondering if there’s any other Pembrokeshire or Ceredigion based fisher folk?

I have a lot to learn about fly and freshwater fishing, I’m fortunate to have the Cleddau on my doorstep and Woodland besides the Teifi ( unfortunately not the fishing rights but TTA beats either side.

I have lots of questions and desire to revisit the Snowdonia upland lakes of my childhood.

My dad recently passed away and I now have his 9’ #6 Scottie which firstly needs the bottom ring repaired and a suitable reel found so I can talk to dad on the river bank.

I have other older/vintage rods such as a sealey Resevoir rod passed to me by another chap for whom life is ebbing rapidly.

Older stuff picked by repair and a desire to have repairable toolsets

I also am a confirmed cyclist with a bit of a collection of rare bicycles

Welcome aboard Joe :Hat: A Sharpes Gordon 3.5in Wide would make a good partner for either of your rods, as would a J W Youngs Beaudex or similar - there's usually a good selection of contemporary British reels to choose from on eBay that can be picked up cheaply

Welcome aboard. Lapsed poster Scott has posted many threads about fishing the tarns of the Lake District which, I presume, would relate closely to your Snowdonia adventure. Here's an example

I have a copy of Plu Stiniog and having wandered most of the Moelwyns as a child I have a fair idea where to fish but with something better than a Woolies fishing rod.

Good tip on the reel would feel wrong to fit on my modern Greys.

Very eager to get back on the rivers April cannot come too quickly but March I hope will be fun as I’m in Norway

:Hat: Hi Joe, It's great to welcome a fellow trad angler and cyclist. You're not in to jazz music as well are you?
If so we could be a perfect match!
