Hello from Dulwich...

Post by Kevskyb »

Hi all,

My name is Kevin Miller & currently reside in South East London.

I’ll be 60 next birthday and always been a keen angler since my schooldays even if life had unfortunately gotten in the way a little over the years and prevented me getting out to a water as often as I would have liked.

10 years ago I had rekindled my love of fishing (being in my 50th year) & treated myself to some new tackle and decided to continue a schoolboy quest to catch a Barbel; a species that previously had always eluded me. After numerous blank sessions on the Kennet I finally landed a fine Barbel of just shy of 15lb .. 10 years on & still yet to catch another I’ve decided to go back to my roots and just fish for the love of fishing.. one rod instead of two and simple vintage style gear.

Met a lovely chap recently at Kings Weir & watched him play (&helped him land) a lovely Barbel into double figures on a beautiful 10ft cane rod that he had made himself - from then on I knew the traditional style was the way fwd for me now I am hoping to spend more time on the river.

My current ambition is to catch a Chub or a Barbel on the River Wandle on a fly rod using a natural bait, blackberry perhaps.

My contribution to the forum I hope would be to simply share memories both new and old.

& thanks Mark for activating me so to speak :Thumb:

A hearty welcome, Sir.
