THE NEED TO TROT A FLOAT!......THE RESULTS

Good evening Gents.

Just a follow up to my post yesterday.

Arrived on the banks of the Trent a little before 11am.....never in a rush at this time of year.

The river was slightly up and carrying a little colour.The wind was light and blowing from my bank,all looked good.
The Aspindale was put together and the Aerial attached (I did say I may use the Ambidex) however it looked like a pin day to me.
Trevor's amber goose quill attached plus the finishing shot and hook......good to go.
All was well in my world .
After a few run through's the snags of the Summer still in place so a mental note was made and hopefully the right path for my float to travel would be found most of the time.
Four or five squeezes of liquidised bread were introduced and they sunk slowly out of sight braking up nicely.
The sun made an appearance ,followed by the flash of a Kingfisher as it passed at speed.
Sunshine and Kingfishers go so well together I thought.
Back to the fishing .
Casting seemed to be going well today.
Float control was good too......for me anyway!
The float travelled its path and with every trot the hope of it disappearing stayed with me.
Nothing was rushed every moment was enjoyed.
After I supposed was about two hours only one half chance had come my way.
Disappointed.........no
Time for tea and that nice piece of fruit cake ,but first introduce some more bread.
Refreshed ,lets get back to it.
Everything just pointed to something happening,it's that feeling.
You know the one ,it's with you all day.You can't explain it .
Suddenly I hear a familiar voice."how's it going?" Mark asked.
"Slowly" was my reply.....but most enjoyable was my thought.
I wasn't even sure what the time was,but Mark confirmed it was 2.50 pm and he needed to get back and with that he was gone.
Hmmm 3.00 pm what to do?
Last hour...go for broke was the first thought and with that I did.
Larger quantities of bread were squeezed and carefully placed along the path my float would travel.
It was now or never time.
The float made its way down the swim ,now some twenty yards or so from me .
It disappeared .
The strike was made and the cane took on a nice curve.
Yes escaped my lips,followed by a smile on my face.......followed by the thought of steady as my prize powered off for a bid to be free.
Control returned and the chub broke the surface,and was soon in the folds of the net.
That feeling was now real.......always savour those moments.
Now safely returned ,still time for another ,maybe.
A few minutes passed and Mr chub made another appearance .
The light had faded quickly and the session came to an end.
One happy angler made his way home.
