Floatcaster deluxe

Post by Benno »

Good morning gents, was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me if all 3 pieces should be the same length? I have a chance to purchase one but the tip section is slightly shorter than the mid and butt sections. Looks to be a lovely rod so hoping it's all as should be.

My tip section is approx 1.5 inches shorter than the butt and middle sections... I don't know if this is normal but the rod fishes fine so I'm not worried
Just one more cast love, and I'll be on me way home

What length is it? No matter, just curious!
I think mine is 10', I'll have a look at the section lengths this afternoon.

The deLuxe was a 12 footer... a bit of a beast of a rod capable of taming monster chub and barbel

I don't think this was uncommon on Edgar Sealey rods. My Floatcaster's tip was shorter than the other two sections but measured up ok.
I really wouldn't worry, go for it!

Rods of this type were generally made with sections roughly equal in length. The top section will always appear shorter because it does not have a ferrule at its end

The 12 footer is a vastly different rod from the 11 footer and like any cane rod over 11 foot 3 inches is a bit of a beast. Buy some rod rests!
