Sorry about the radio in the background, my first attempt at creating a youtube channel so I could upload the video on here!
The rod doesn't need any work doing, its in very good condition. Perhaps this has been refurbed by someone on here or by someone who knows who did it if its not original?
Either way its a thing of beauty,I've never had a cane rod in such good order. I'm almost scared to use it!!

It's a late model with the two fishes logo which came in around 1963 or '64. At that time they also went over to a disastrous varnish so your rod may well have been re-done...varnished at least. It's also the time the reel mounting got anodised black .

Thanks for the info Nobby much appreciated. It's good to know as much as possible about the history of the rod. I did wonder about the black reel mounting.
It appears to have been hardly, if at all used and the bag is also in fantastic condition so it must have been stored securely.

Sadly, it does appear that the tip section is short, often happens.

I think the last eye must have been changed to take a swing tip or quiver tip..someone else has pointed that out and told me the original didnt feature that.
I'll.measure the full length and get a better photo in a day or so.
Would be great to know who restored this and when!

i think the clue is the bag - condition is very good .if it was a refurb the bag would indicate the age i think the rod is original

I doubt it, Gilbert...the polyurethane varnish flaked off appallingly. That said, I have no proof that the new logo and new varnish appeared at exactly the same time....there may have been a gap between where the new logo still got the old varnish.

If this is an original rod it must have been stored in a well ventilated secure building.
In a shed the bag would have got damp in winter and aged with mould etc.
Would the varnish have perished if the rod hadn't been used? Or perhaps that varnish wasnt used on the rod?
Would more close up photos help anyone to identify this better?
If anyone whit a good knowledge of these rods is local Aylesbury I would be happy to meet at some point to show the rod.
The plot thickens...
