B.James Avon Perfection, 3 piece

Post by JasonR »

Good evening Gents,
I have a three piece B.James Avon Perfection, all split cane. I know little about this rod, so wondering if you could enlighten me on line strength to use on it, what sort of strength “rating” it is and would it be suitable for tench fishing?
Many thanks in advance.

I have and use an all split cane James Avon Perfection and whilst mine seems somewhat 'floppy' this characteristic disappears when I connect with a good fish.

I have certainly used my rod for tench fishing with line up to 5lb breaking strain and have even had some Common / Mirror Carp on it to mid doubles (i.e 12lb - 15lb) as Carp seem to be in virtually all still waters these days. I will have a look through my journal and see if I can post some photos.

Well here are two Chub - I will see if I have any photos of tench with the rod a little later.

It’s a ‘Baby Avocet’, lighter and softer in the tip but still wonderful. I have an early whole cane butt version which I use trotting for roach and chub.
