New set of guides for MK IV - help!
I would like to restore a B James and son RW MK IV rod - the bambou is straight and spot on but I would like to replace all the guides by new ones. Does anybody know where a matching set of guides could be purchased? I've been looking on the Internet for 25mm agate but rings but didn't found any...
Please help.

Hopkins and Holloway or Chapmans of Ware are both excellent for traditional guides.

You'll have no luck at Agutters I am afraid, they have no agate butt rings for sale. The only option is the occasional one that come up on eBay I fear.

Here's another question.
Is it possible to remove the tip ring from a MK IV without cutting the bamboo?

Hi Leon, to remove the tip ring, first cut away all the thread holding the legs of the ring to the tip section then warm the ring up with a cigarette lighter ( not too much heat or you may melt the solder holding it together) use a glove to grip the ring and gently pull and it should just lift off easily.

Theres an Ebay seller that usually has a few original B.James guides for sale, I got an original lined butt guide from him, I think his name is Barry Arbury (I might be wrong tho, maybe another TFF member will know) I think his ebay user name is FWK88

Hello Leon - I am away on holiday shortly, and have scheduled some Ebay listings starting about 2.10 pm Sunday 29th - includes "breaking" a fairly good MkIV - a good tip section; a broken butt section with all rings/bits and a bag - seller name is tacklecat
