Hardy rod names and dates
I recently stumbled across this interesting document which gives all the Hardy rods names and dates of manufacture from 1885-1984

What a great find thank you Nigel
I cant see the Lrh 0 spinning rod on that list there really isn't much written about that rod at all. I'm lucky enough to own one.

Shows how rare it is. Terry might have the only one!

Re: Hardy rod names and dates
Very interesting to read through. On another fishing forum I was able to create a list of the fly rods post 1984, with a lot of help. In this list it's interesting to note just how brief the production period was for some rods. I tend to associate short productions runs with modern tackle but this list clearly shows it has always been the case. However, others like the LRH spinning rods had long production runs.
I do question some of the information, for example some of the glass rods were made for several years. The glass colour, whipping colours and the rings style changed over time.

Re: Hardy rod names and dates
I must say I've never seen another one or met anyone else who owns one. There was one in extremely bad condition about a year ago on the auction site( mine wasn't much better when I first got it) listed as a fly rod. I let it go as it took me so long to find one and thought it would make someone's day.

The 0 is 8.5ft where as the 1,2,3 Lrh spinning rods are 9.5ft

Re: Hardy rod names and dates
LRH 3 was only 1948 - 1952.
So probably in rarity - 0 - 3 - 1 & 2. Although 1 seems to be seldom up for sale!

Re: Hardy rod names and dates
LRH 2 certainly seems to be the most common version now seen for sale. Around ten years ago it was the No1 that tended to come up for sale most frequently. I can only guess that those who have them want to hang onto what they have acquired.
