Some of the whipping on the rings is scrappy and it is a few inches shorter than it should be. I've had plenty of use out of it but didn't realise until l joined this forum that they have a bit of a following.
So if anyone on the forum fancies a Lock Down project just Pm me . It cost me nothing so l am happy to pass it on for the same . Maybe just make a donation to site running costs. 🎣
Very nice gesture Kev, maybe you should ask Mark if you can auction it and the proceeds to go to the TFF.

A lovely gesture Kev, what a gent you are !
It would be nice to see it go to one of our more senior members who have perhaps been isolating for longer than some of us have been. :Hat:

I really wish l had a stash of Record Breakers to give away now.
But anyway the rod is en route to a deserving home.

Hi everyone, Now I have finished the Grove tackle early glass fibre I have started a rebuild of my Record Breaker. Just a quick question. The reel bands just slide off the bottom. How do I prevent this? I have seen older rods with a small brass pin tapped into the cork, is this standard, thanks Ed.

Hi Ed
I have a couple of Record breakers one has alloy reel bands which are fairly tight on the cork but they do slide of the bottom of the handle with a bit of pressure, and an older Record breaker with brass reel bands which has a brass ring fitted (the same as the Wizard) an inch or so above the bottom of the handle, this prevents the reel bands sliding of the cork handle.
Personally I would fit a ring as per Wizard, brass/ alloy to match the reel fittings.
All the best John.

On my Record Breaker the shape of the cork prevents the bands from sliding off. It’s a newer version with the green label. Bobby
