Moreton angling club

Post by Mikey11 »

Good morning,

Has anybody been or is a member of moreton angling club near stow on the wold. I am desperate for a nice lilly shrouded lake that is fairly quiet (mid week fishing) to chuck a homemade float and catch a trench or two. Also the opportunity to stalk the odd carp.

Wondering what the venues (mainly adlestrop and huntsman) are like now in terms of member numbers and fish stock? The images look sublime online.

My other fairly local venue that ticked the boxes was taken over a few years ago by modern carpers and as a result the lake is fully stocked with Simmos, with an unimaginable amount of fish finder, bait boat traffic and huge baiting campaigns.

Many thanks,

Mike

That's my stamping ground and I was a member for many years.
Adlestrop was, until the floods of 2007, a lily covered tench fishers paradise but not it is pretty much devoid of lilies, silted up and ottered. There are very few tench left. :(

Here it is in better times.

The gravel pit at Bourton holds some huge tench and big carp and pike etc.
I never fished the lake at Huntsmans. It looks interesting but due to being a SSSI access is limited.
They also have a stretch of the Evenlode at Lynham but that is full of crayfish and the fish are few and far between now.
Shame as their waters were favourites of mine in the past.
Whereabouts are you located?

Morning nigel. Was hoping youd comment as ive seen odd post on here and Facebook of you being fairly local (sounds a little stalky- not intended of course).

What a shame, infact its turned my optimistic Saturday into something more pessimistic and miserable. Will drop you a PM if thats ok?

Cheers,

Mike
