Lost Cornish Fishery
In 1979 I visited Cornwall my home county before emigrating to Australia.Found a pond below College Reservoir. After parking in College car park crossed the road and a great walk to a beautiful pond with lily pads.Fishing with sweet corn had a great haul of Tench tw0 into the six pound bracket.
Revisited in 1992 still there but only caught a few Bream.Shock when I came back in 2002 found the pond and walking paths in a bad state.Found out all the fish had been taken to College.Looking on the internet these fish are now in the large uninteresting Argal. To me it seams to be the loss of a lovely old fishery.

Is that the one you pass on the way up the track from Penryn to the dam end of College reservoir, It looked lovely. Popped in to look at college last April.....a shadow of what it once was......wish I'd just kept the memories now....still never mind the Famous Barrel still does a good pint!

Sorry misread your post so Poll is still in a sorry state.Last time I visited was in 2002.My Sister at the time lived in Penryn.Had a few at the Barrel but found the pub up on the right in the main street fun.Had a sign out the front saying swimming pool.Out the back in the long grass was an aboveground pool in pieces.Had a beer but no swim?

Yes the pub up the high street is a cracker from memory. I used to spend a lot of time every year fishing and drinking with mates who live in Cornwall...In fact we called them fishing and drinking holidays although we didn't mix the two
