Salopettes

Post by Harry H »

Apologies if this is in the wrong section but I'm looking for recommendations for some new selopettes.
Don't want to go down the Realtree road though.
Thanks in advance :Hat:

Deerhunter Kamchatka - the evilbay - £80 - last forever - water/wind proof and very warm. Green!

Equal to Daiwa Gortex at £355!

I think the ESP ones are worth a look, they are quilted and waterproof.

Another vote for ESP. I've had mine for 15 years now and they are still going strong. I think the design may have been updated since then but if they are anything like the original they will be excellent quality and will keep you very warm on the bank.

Thank you for these posts gentlemen. I'm getting cold on the bank in my jeans. The wind seems to be the problem, but I was cold when I packed up at seven last night and still cold at bedtime. Maybe salopettes are the answer?

The other thing is that I had a Sundridge Igloo salopettes and jacket for twenty plus years until it fell apart last year. So I did get a Deerstalker jacket courtesy of Olly's advice and I am very pleased with it.
Problem with those salopettes was that the leg length was OK with the velcro cuffs, but as soon as the wet, muddy weather arrived the cuffs wouldn't stick so they flapped around and were easy to trip over. In the end I just cut the last two inches of both legs. So the net result is that I am not sure what size to order. None of the websites I've seen talk about leg measurements. I'm about 5ft 8 and a half........

Forgive my ignorance, but what are salopettes? They sound french!!!! Are we talking waterproof trousers?

I think like other Deerstalker kit - I have several bits - that the trousers have a locking system for length.

Mine are longer than usual trews but never slide over my boots or Wellingtons as they fit tightly above the sole.
