Recently 'unearthed' pictures
Hello All,
When Kevin Clifford and I were collecting material for our book 'Redmire Pool', back in the late 1970's and early 1980's, we contacted as many Redmire anglers as we possibly could, including Gerry Berth-Jones. At this time, Gerry generously gave us every help he possibly could, including a large amount of photographs and negatives. At the time, as Redmire was uppermost in our thoughts, we concentrated on stuff pertinent to the subject. Fairly recently I met May Lang (formerly May Berth-Jones) for the first time, and she subsequently asked me if I could provide her with any copies of the family's old photographs. Now, some of these originals were readily to hand which were duly sent to May, but I suspected there were more...if only I could find them. To cut a long story short, whilst searching for something else, a few pictures of May (and Gerry) have been unearthed, which are presently being scanned and forwarded to May.
So you want to know what an absolute stunner our Honorary President was in her prime? Well look no further than the photograph below!
If this picture has been published before it is news to me!
Just one more: This shows May with her first ever fish, a Thames bleak, caught when she was just 17.
(Dear May, I am certain our members will love these pictures, and hope you won't be too embarrassed by me sharing them?)
Besties,
Len.

How wonderful! Here's to May.

Be still my beating heart
The top picture is a wonderful study in contemplation and those long hours that can drag on whilst waiting for a run, a brilliant shot. Great pictures Len and thanks for posting them.

Brilliant Len, halcyon days broken by rain and I don't recall ever seeing oilskins and a sou'wester so beautifully presented.

Lovely photos Len but my goodness how on earth did those chaps concentrate on fishing in such company

Not a fish was visible that first time I visited Beechmere; an utter
stillness brooded over the place and I felt the strange and sinister atmosphere which, so the story goes,
has been the cause of several suicides.’

Re: Recently 'unearthed' pictures
Those two photos would not be out of place had they come from the Hollywood archives, quite marvellous, thanks Len and May.
