Bill Watson Stick Floats...

Post by Michael »

My little homage to Bill Watsons line drawn stick floats, in his floatmakers manual...

Very nice! Did you manage to spigot the body (balsa?) far down into the quill? What sort of shotting do they carry?

I reduced the diameter of the quill for about 0.75" and inserted it into the pre-formed balsa body.
The weight is yet to be decided, as I like to let my varnish harden off first..

Very nice, looking great for trotting.

An excellent use for those beetle larva chewed porcupine quills!

I just realised that this is an old post as I believe Michael left the forum a while ago? He is still in good spirits and still fishing though, as I have seen him at a couple of tackle fairs! :Hat:

I have some 20 - 30+ "chewed" porcupine quills - now they may have a use!
