I have just come across this?
Don't think necessarily old but unusual connector system.
Anyone seen one before?
Another unusual looking float. Any ideas?

Could that be lead wire or solder to make the float 'self cocking' ?

Is it some sort of quick change design? The line attachment beneath the spring is intriguing, any chance you can take some close ups with and without the spring in place?

I have seen one of those before, there is a slit in the stem of the float, you twist the spiral wire up the stem until the slit is revealed, slide the line through the slit and then twist the wire backdown , putting the line between the twists of wire it traps the line in place keeping the float at whatever depth you choose without using float stops or trapping the float between shot.
I think it was abroad somewhere that I saw it, probably France or Portugal, not sure though.
Not the best idea ever in my opinion.

Having enlarged the picture 5-fold - there is a notch under the spiral spring - - - a quick change float? A picture with the spring removed (?) may show more.

Hi guys
Yes there is a slit under the spring, so the prediction that it is some form of quick change system seems correct
This was my belief also
I was just unsure it it was an early idea or a more up to date idea
Thanks
Steve
