Milwards 'Searanger'

Post by Old-CodJA »

This is a lovely example of a two-piece split cane beach / pier rod, 10 ft 6 ins in length which I recently acquired along with the collection of what appear to be 19th Century greenheart fly rods referred to in another post. (Andersons of Edinburgh, Farlows of London & Enright of Ireland)

Can anyone shed any light on the likely year for the 'Searanger'.

Unusually for a sea rod it has what appear to be lacquered brass sliding reel fittings on a full cork handle rather than a screw winch fitting.

I'll load a photo as soon as I get a minute.

Thanks in advance.

John
