In what order do you file your books on your bookshelf
By the authors name A-Z.
By fish type, ie all the carp books together etc.
By order of your merit.
Or in any old order.

By size, in true OCD fashion.
The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed

"Afternoon all",
I do like to keep all books by the same Author/Authors together, but I am also restricted by having shelves set at varying heights.

Clumped roughly by height but little other order than that - it does mean that series tend to live together and all my auction catalogues are in the same place. It can still take me upwards of 20mins to find the obscure reference book Im after though! Should be more organised but lifes too short....

With regard to angling books, so that the the ones I like most have the prime positions when I look at the bookcase/ shelves - ie best books on middle shelves and not at either end..... if you see what I mean
I keep an updated list of those I haven't read yet - then it doesn't matter where they are filed.
Books are grouped by subject matter - eg angling separate from Wildlife, travel writing, etc
