Leather Creel

Post by Gudgeon Jim »

My next project is going to be a leather creel as ive a fair bit of 2-3mm cobblers leather here.
Has anyone got a pic of one im after making one similar /style shape to a reed creel and not the pot bellied type which demand an high price.
I will stretch the leather round a ash frame which will make it strong enough to sit on when the grass around the banks is wet.
Any thoughts pics would be appreciated

I noticed one the other day which took my eye and made me gasp at the price!
It is on ebay - "George Lawrence Tillamook vintgae creel/fishing basket". There is also a "Brady" creel.

Wow, just seen one of those leather jobs in a Mullock's catalogue, estimate £800-£1200.

Sounds like an interesting project. I'm always fascinated to see all of the different skills forum members have.

Crikey, I'm quivering at the thought of making just a new leather strap (2 actually) for my wicker basket(s).
