Chew Valley Lake has just produced a new British record pike of 47 pounds 5 ounces!
Hearty congratulations to the captor, Lloyd Watson, and hats off for having the good grace to look
absolutely chuffed about it!
(This finally beats the longstanding record of 46-13 by Roy Lewis, caught from Llandegfedd Reservoir in 1992).

What a fantastic Essox…. !!
Big pike haunt my dreams regularly and the thought of one that big would keep me awake for a week….I have been fortunate enough to have caught two thirty pounders and quite a few twenty’s over the years but that fish is immense!

What a massive fish, I think that guarantees that Chew will be busy for a few years yet.

Lloyd's fish has certainly raised the bar Dave! (And no doubt the future ticket price).
Chew has previously recorded quite a number of forty pounders to over 44 pounds, certainly now more than Llandegfedd and Bough Beech did in their hey days.
Sadly I doubt I will ever fish there (not unless I can arrange a second mortgage!).

What a turn up for the books! Records a made to be broken they say.
Fantastic photo, looks chuffed to say the least and what a splendid Pike and in superb condition looking at it.
A grand day all round, name her Shrovey I say.
"Marvellous"
Glad I'm not the only one fantasying about record Pike in the "we small hours"
Mr B.
