Chew Valley Lake has just produced a new British record pike of 47 pounds 5 ounces!

Hearty congratulations to the captor, Lloyd Watson, and hats off for having the good grace to look absolutely chuffed about it!




(This finally beats the longstanding record of 46-13 by Roy Lewis, caught from Llandegfedd Reservoir in 1992).

What an amazing fish. It's no wonder he looks happy.

And in absolutely perfect condition as well,superb pike

Big pike haunt my dreams regularly and the thought of one that big would keep me awake for a week….I have been fortunate enough to have caught two thirty pounders and quite a few twenty’s over the years but that fish is immense!

Is Lloyd quite small, or is...crikey!

What a massive fish, I think that guarantees that Chew will be busy for a few years yet.

Lloyd's fish has certainly raised the bar Dave! (And no doubt the future ticket price).

Chew has previously recorded quite a number of forty pounders to over 44 pounds, certainly now more than Llandegfedd and Bough Beech did in their hey days.

Sadly I doubt I will ever fish there (not unless I can arrange a second mortgage!).

What a turn up for the books! Records a made to be broken they say.
Fantastic photo, looks chuffed to say the least and what a splendid Pike and in superb condition looking at it.
