I recently picked up a very nice early Richard Walker carp rod, I thought I would like to share it with you and appreciate your thoughts.

That is fabulous. I have followed the chats on Facebook on your rod also which have been very interesting.

A very nice early example by the looks of it - a classic cane. I imagine the action and feel is top drawer.

I love the close whipped intermediates. There's a lot of work gone into those. It's a lovely rod, I hope it catches you lots of fish.
What do they know of fishing who know only one fish and one way to fish for him?

Very nice... I do have a soft spot for them and that looks ... splendid!
Thanks for posting.

The close season is an important and interesting time for the Angler who set out to catch big fish. It is a timely opportunity for him to make new tackle or renovate old. There are no end of jobs to do, apart from those horrible things called Gardens!

That is a lovely early MKIV. Ealing address too.
I have only restored three of the same versions and if I remember correctly there are 320 whippings per rod.

I got to about 290 inters but my eyes got a bit foggy, I guess 3 pints of Old Thunderbelly didn't help !!

Add the ring and ferrule whippings and you are just about there. Of course, I may have blacked out half way through and took a guess at where I was up to. :Hahaha:

Have a nice Christmas.

Wal.
