Boxed Speedia extra tiny hole?

Post by Mr B »

Hi have just picked up this very nice Speedia narrow drum, boxed.
It runs very smoothly with no wobbles.
(I have a wide spool so I fancied the narrow one)
I have noticed an extra tiny hole, see photo..I was wondering why its there? Or perhaps the chap making it drilled an extra one after a couple of pints in his dinner hour!

The close season is an important and interesting time for the Angler who set out to catch big fish. It is a timely opportunity for him to make new tackle or renovate old. There are no end of jobs to do, apart from those horrible things called Gardens!

Here’s a few of mine Mark, I can’t see any difference, they all have eight holes?? Unless of course you’re referring to that tiny hole?

Nice collection Rob! Very nice, allong with the basket and rod too... thanks for posting.
Yes, the tiny one... it would have been done before the painting at the factory.. unusual place for it? Hence the pint or two at lunchtime!
I was thinking it was a mistake and he carried on regardless... ?
It has the little brass counter balance inside the spool as they do to my understanding.. Just found it interesting...
I can see you have a soft spot for them 👍

So far after looking at lots of photos of Speedia's, this one is quite unique!

That Speedia of Ted's on Thursday was a sweet example... not a mark on it, and not a wobble, I think Rob'd tear Ted's arm off for it
