Pezon & Michel "Luxor" float

Found this morning at a vide grenier in the Dordogne, this Pezon & Michel "Luxor" float. It looks like it's for sea fishing or maybe using fish baits for predators. The line runs through a tube in the body of the float. There is one listed in the Pezon & Michel catalogue from 1961.
