Hi folks! I am not an expert, but have seen this for sale, I can't identify it!
Is it a Mordex? Which model? And is it worth £45.00?

It's a Mordex "Major"
I've had a similar one for about 50 years.

Go for it. They are nice general purpose centre pins.
I think it is a mid series model. The early ones had a rim mounted check lever and the later ones had trilobe handles.

Mine has been an excellent servant.

There is a guy in Yorkshire who sells the little round decal for the rear to identify which model. Bought one for my decalless Mentor. Looks original.

That should read Merlin, not Mentor.

"Major" surely? Are not the others "open" faced? ..
And on these the 'holes' are different.. ???

These are Mordex Merlins

The reel in question is a "Mentor". Not as I said last night, a "Major"....
Just checked the ventilation holes on my Mordex reels.
All other comments still apply ( I think).
