Thanks Jeremy, the reason that I asked is that I believe there is a 12 and 13ft version?Jeremy Croxall wrote: ↑Sun Mar 12, 2023 5:59 pm11ft TedLea Dweller wrote: ↑Sun Mar 12, 2023 5:49 pm That looks to be in cracking condition Jeremy, what is the length?

Yes, Ted you are quite correct. I have converted a 12ft General to 11ft and there are a couple of 13ft versions for sale on the auction site.Lea Dweller wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 5:50 amThanks Jeremy, the reason that I asked is that I believe there is a 12 and 13ft version?Jeremy Croxall wrote: ↑Sun Mar 12, 2023 5:59 pm11ft TedLea Dweller wrote: ↑Sun Mar 12, 2023 5:49 pm That looks to be in cracking condition Jeremy, what is the length?
The 11ft version handles very nicely and and I would totally agree with John, over this length their handling is compromised.
Hope you're keeping well mate

Thank you for explaining about the different lengths that 'The General' was made in. I am well thank you and hope to see you at either Romsey or Redditch!

Re: Never loose hope!
Well done Jeremy, a great find.
The General is one of those rods that can cope very well with many angling situations and the eleven foot version is the best, no doubt about that.
Add the fact that the rod is in very nice, original condition and comes from the original owner. It just doesn't get better than that.
Wal.

Always nice to get a bit of history with a rod, great find

Re: Never loose hope!
I watched that rod but was totally confused by the rod's date! G35689 does not relate to the 1980s.
Especially as according to Turner production of the General ceased in 1955!
A lovely rod - but do wonder about the information the sellers were given by Alnwick - I suspect no one who was about in '55 is still in the shop!

Luverlyjubberly mate, well done on your acquisition, looks superb and if Dr Cane rates it then it must be good
