Well I use crimps as I use wire traces. Makers sell different gauge wire - and appropriate sized crimps.

Plenty of excellent YouTube videos showing all the varieties of traces and of how and when to use them.

Oh forgot - you will need a good set of crimp pliers! And some wire cutters?

If you do have trouble unhooking your pike or you want to weigh it or take a photo, remember to not keep it out of the water for too long

Thanks for the advice, I always rest my fish but of course it's good to mention it. Honestly though, I barely ever weigh my fish unless it's something special.

Note of warning, smaller pike are often much harder to unhook than their bigger brethren. That's where barbless or semi barbless hooks are more beneficial.
