Gentlemen,I have a 7’ 2piece Scottie Braemar III spinning rod. It’s varnished as opposed to impregnated, but I can’t find anything out about it.
Does anyone know what strength line I should use with it and what weight lures it would be capable of chucking around.
Im assuming it’s a trout/chub rod but would I get away using it as a light pike rod.
Regards
Malcolm

Depends on how fine the tip is. Any measurements other than length?

The tip is 3.9-4mm and the butt section is 9.3mm

I'd say about 10 - 12lb line and up to at least 20-30g should be OK. But I wouldn't advise using lures bigger than that, as cane isn't very good at handling much weight when casting. And avoid casting aggressively!
