Ivan Marks floats

Post by Duckett »

I just dipped my toe for the first time into buying some second hand floats. After a lot of looking I finally settled on two lots of Ivan Marks floats. The first lot is 7 used darts. I couple have cracked dayglo paint on their tips and one has a small impact dent in the body but all seem waterproof and useable.

The second lot is 10 bodied wagglers which the seller claimed came from unopened retail packets - looking at them I’m sure he was being completely honest. The two with insert tips have slight manufacturing flaws where the lacquer around the join has crinkled up but all the others are perfect and all are entirely useable.

At an average of £2.88 per float, I’m very happy and can’t wait to use them.

I wonder if anyone knows which company made Ivan Marks floats?

I choose to resist bidding on a boxed set of Marks & Marlow floats - it would have been a lovely thing to have had in the collection, but that box would have taken up half my rucksack and consequently I know they would never have got used.

Those bodied wagglers are great floats, alas, all that I owned have gone to the great float graveyard in that special tree that eats and recycles them.

There have been a lot of IM floats on Ebay of late but I am being strong. Must re-sist....... :Notlisterning:

Thanks for the comments!

I was trying some of them out yesterday and today. Sadly, between Willow blossom on the surface of both lakes and my own limitations, they didn’t get much of a test as all I managed was 2 tiny Perch yesterday and 2 tiny Roach today!

They do behave very well and the shooting information is extremely accurate ....... except for one which I think las a typo! The second largest antenna says 3BB ....... it’s actually 3AAA!
