Chapman Amwell, £20....

Post by BoltonBullfinch »

My brother phoned me this afternoon to say there was a Chapman Amwell cane rod in his local (Hoddesdon, Herts) junk shop, and did I want it as it was £20. Once I had recovered from this question, I said yes, yes and more yesses. He said it may need a tidy up but to him it looked OK. Has anyone used a Amwell, it says on the Chapman website that it is a 1lb tc, which is the same as the Chapman 500, but it's a tad longer.

Thanks

Bargain of the year :huray: the Amwell is a lovely allrounder, great chub rod,my only criticism is it is a little heavy in the hand, but for £20 i am sure you can cope with that

A much underrated rod from the Chapman stable. A nice alternative to the 500 if you feel you need an extra foot in length.

It will hopefully be of use, although the 500 is my favourite cane rod that I own. I need to see the condition of the Amwell and then make a decision on whether I will restore it or see if it needs doing by someone more talented than I....

That's a great find if it's a sound example BB! My friend in Salisbury has one and it's his favourite chub rod. I've only ever seen that one so I assume they are a good bit rarer than the 500s? Later model perhaps?
