Going through my desk the other day I came across this photo of a traditional outfit and a nice fish.
I have taken a digital picture of the original glossy 5”x7” photo, taken at least 15 years ago.
The details as best I remember:
The carp, a linear mirror went 20lb.8oz.
The rod is a Martin James 12’ float rod, I fitted with a new tip rescued from a sharps fly rod, and all new rings.
( a close up of the whipping does not pass TFF standards!).
The reel is the mk. 6. the line 8lb. the hook a no.8, bait a 12mm. boilie fished on a float in 3 feet of water five
foot from the bank.
I sold the reel about seven years ago, but finding the picture kindled warm memories and so a replacement
has been found on the auction site, now I await delivery.
Sadly, the club lost the fishing a decade ago to a commercial outfit that has mopped up most of the gravel pit fishing in the area.
Regards Tom.
